In the summer of 1996, Mona's high school classmate asked her to accompany her on a visit to her boyfriend's house. Mona agreed and ended up hitting it off with his roommate, Andre. They dated off and on for the summer before losing touch with each other.

Every few years for the next 27 years, Andre would call or email Mona to see how she was doing. In the summer of 2021, they reconnected in person and co-hosted a telephone Bible study which they called "The Friday Night Bible Party". In November of 2021, Dre attended Mona's book launch but the two lost touch again soon thereafter.

In December of 2023, Mona received a "Happy Birthday" email from Dre. After exchanging voicemail messages for three days, they caught up on each other's lives and discussed the "irony" of both of them being single and ready to mingle (with each other) after all these years.

They decided to inquire of the Lord for His will concerning their relationship. They fasted, prayed and learned that it is His will for them to be married.

So ... 28 years after they met, they're being joined together forever.
